And I’m elated to announce that because of my phenomenal efforts and great service that Inspired Sistah is honoring lil ole ME with the Momentum Builder Award at the Living on Purpose Awards Ceremony being held during the Pathway to Purpose Retreat at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, GA, on Saturday, September 24, 2011.
This is the 1st Annual “Living on Purpose” Awards Ceremony“. The purpose of the ceremony is to honor everyday sistahs who are busy making things happen and living their lives ON PURPOSE. I am proud to be a part of this inagural event.

And if you are wondering just how I am living my life ON purpose, here is my award submission:
In 2002 when Rick Warren’s book The Purpose Driven Life was first released everyone went “purpose” crazy. The buzz everywhere was about finding and living your purpose. Despite the rave reviews, I skipped the book and turned to THE book. Through prayer that year God finally revealed to me that my purpose was *drum roll* to help people. I remember the day like it was yesterday, sitting in my car (which is where God and I tend to have our pow wows) in Atlanta traffic holding a conversation as if there was another physically in the car with me. “Brandi, I’ve given you the gifts to help people in a way that will transform their lives.” Of course at the time I had no clue what that meant. And it was until this year, through prayer, trial, and error that I discovered the journey I’ve been on since middle school.
In middle school my love of marketing began, I studying marketing, competing in marketing competitions, taking on marketing related leadership roles etc. Later I achieved a marketing degree and have worked in the field for over 10 years. In hindsight my steps were ordered, every position built upon the next, every experience molded me, deliberate steps building me into the ‘Type A Marketing Genius’ that I am today.
I recently read a book that suggested evaluating what people come to you for, what are they need, what they are drawn to. The author stated that God sends those people to you, that they are drawn to the purpose that he has placed within you. For as long as I can recall people I know and organizations I’ve been associated with have come to me for marketing help and advice.
Then during the Women’s Conference at my church our first lady told the story of the metamorphosis of the butterfly. In her sermon she discussed how the caterpillar sheds its skin five times before finding a place to plant itself. Once it does after hanging for a day the chrysalis begins to form, within the chrysalis change begins to happen. The analogy used was that we are the caterpillar and once we plant ourselves in God if we sit still and let him work in our lives change happens and our lives, and the lives of those we are connected to are transformed.
I then spent time in my chrysalis with God and transformation began to happen. Within a few days’ I had filled a notebook with ideas of how I can use my education, experience, and passion to not only achieve my dream of full-time entrepreneurship but to fulfill my purpose helping others to live their dream doing the same. In hindsight I realize that although I did not know where the journey would take me, I’ve lived every step along the way ‘on purpose’. And now through my business Cassius Blue Consulting I am fulfilling my purpose of helping to transform the lives of others through their businesses.
